XSitePro on Sub Domains

XSitePro is primarily designed to build affiliate marketing web sites rapidly.  That's not to say you cannot build content web sites using XSitePro - I have one site with over 100 pages and I have read of others with 500 or more.  It does this job brilliantly but there is no doubt that XSitePro has been produced to help affiliate marketers.

The current wisdom is that creating a tightly focused web site for each product you wish to promote is much more effective than 'shopfront' affiliate sites.  So, if you want to promote lots of products you need lots of sites.

Registering Domains still takes 24 to 48 hours

Lots of sites doesn't need to mean lots of new domains though.  All those people you hear saying, "my latest site was complete and online in less than 2 hours" must already have a domain registered and ready to go.  Otherwise it takes 24 to 48 hours for new domains to propogate around the internet (and there's nothing much that can be done to speed up that process).

Many affiliate marketers have 100+ sites.  They figure if they can make $10 per day from each site they will make almost $400,000 per year.  If you are making that much money paying for new domains is not a problem.  Trying to keep track of them all is.

Luckily there is an alternative.

Creating a Sub Domain Takes Seconds

If you have a hosting deal (see the hosting page for a couple of examples) that supports sub domains (and if you are serious about affiliate marketing you really should make sure you have) then it really does only take seconds to create a sub domain.

The beauty of this is you can create a complete, independent site on each and every sub domain.  This site sits on a sub domain of jkl.co.uk.  There are currently 5 other sub domains on that site - one of them hosts this sites blog - www.xsiteproblog.jkl.co.uk  Another www.webtraffic.jkl.co.uk is, as the name suggests dedicated to web traffic.

At the moment, the parent domain jkl.co.uk is not really used for much else.  It contains a few redirect pages but that's about all.

The possibilities are endless.

I know off people who have dozens of web sites all sitting on sub domains.  I even heard of one person who had more than 1000.  That seems excessive - and a bit dangerous.  A problem with the parent site could take down all the sub domains.

Advantages of Sub Domains

Working with sub domains has a number of advantages:

  • Very quick to create - put your web site on line in minutes
  • No need to wait 24 - 48 hours for the domain to propogate around the internet
  • You can use all those catchy names that have all gone for top level domains.  For instance, how else could I use the single word 'XSitePro' in a domain name.  All variants have, quite rightly, been registered by Intellimon.
  • Create a cluster of themed sites on one parent domain
  • Cheaper than registering new domains
  • Easier to manage
